Mayoshi Katagiri, a male student who is terribly timid and self-conscious about it. By a strange twist of fate, he ends up sneaking into the school at night—where he encounters a terrifying “apparition.” Just as he’s about to be attacked and meet certain doom, he’s saved at the last moment by Nagi, a girl exorcist—who also happens to be his classmate. After being sternly scolded by Nagi for sneaking into the school at night, Mayoshi slinks back home… but for some reason, a few days later, Nagi herself asks him, “I want you to help me with my exorcist work.” —The role given to Mayoshi, who was asked to be an exorcist’s supporter, is to absorb the “fear” and “lust” stirred up by the apparitions, and in doing so share his mental energy with Nagi.
