About the My Family (Except Me) Were Succubi English patch

Takuya (the name can be changed) lives with his stepmother Yuri and his twin stepsisters Sakura and Kaede. They are not related by blood, but they get along like a real family. That changes the day both sisters suddenly lose control around him, and Yuri cheerfully explains that she is a succubus, the girls are half-succubi, and they all need his help to get by.

My Family (Except Me) Were Succubi is a fully voiced YU-RIS adventure game by marine (マリン), released in 2023. Its cast is made up entirely of the protagonist's family, and VNDB lists it as 10 to 30 hours long.

The English patch translates 20,042 unique lines and redraws 102 system images such as config, confirm dialogs, backlog and save/load. Long messages flow into a new message window instead of being cut off. It installs as a single update1.ypf file that the game loads before its own data, so nothing is overwritten.

Compatibility and troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

The game is still in Japanese

update1.ypf must sit in the Data folder next to data.ypf and keep the name update1.ypf.

Text shows as boxes or is missing

The game needs a Japanese TrueType font (MS Gothic). Windows always has it; under Wine/Proton, install one into the prefix.

The game does not start under Wine/Proton

Place a 32-bit mfc42.dll next to the game exe. Windows already has it.

Uninstall: Delete update1.ypf from the Data folder.
